In Greene County district court Jason Douglas Dane, 48, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 10 to one year in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of gambling- false statement on application. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined $855 with a $128.25 surcharge. He must pay restitution not to exceed $500 for his court-appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Bryce Randal Delaney, 46, of Jefferson was sentenced Jan. 8 to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- second degree, amended from theft- first degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for three years. He is to remain in jail until a bed is available at a residential drug treatment center. Delaney was fined $1,025 with a $153.75 surcharge; both were suspended.
In a separate case against Delaney in which he was charged with burglary- third degree, he was sentenced to five years in prison, with the two prison terms concurrent. This prison term was also suspended, with the same directive to complete a program at a residential drug treatment sentence. Delaney was sentenced to one year in prison on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. That prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for two years. He was fined $430 with a $150.50 surcharge. A charge of possession of marijuana was dismissed, as was a charge in magistrate court of possession of drug paraphernalia. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Andrew E. Bounds, 27, of Omaha, NE, was sentenced to 90 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on informal probation to the Greene County sheriff for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay $301 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Thomas Gordon Shearman, 75, of Jefferson pleaded not guilty at arraignment to a charge of assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. A trial date was set for March 5.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Linda Kay Cleary, 53, of Grand Junction, is charged with possession of methamphetamine- second offense.
Cases were initiated during the week ending Jan. 12 against Devin Julian Villalobos, 22, of Jefferson, on a charge of driving while license barred; and against Timothy R. Williams, 47, of Jefferson, on a charge of operating while intoxicated- third offense.
